Hotel Escandón Review ~ Mexico City, Mexico

We have returned recently from a family trip to Mexico City. We had rented an apartment through Airbnb (if you haven't signed up for Airbnb yet, click this link and you will get a credit for your first stay) for the week. However, Riley was flying in the night before us and we were arriving at 4 in the morning so we needed a place to stay for the first night. There were lots of great options in our price range (which was a nice treat) but we finally narrowed it down to Hotel Escandón. We were very pleased with our choice.

We took a taxi from the airport. It was about a 20 minute drive and cost about $11 for the ride. When we arrived, we picked up the key that Riley had left for us.

The hotel was very welcoming and exactly what we needed for our first night/morning in Mexico. In such a busy and somewhat overwhelming city, it was nice to have a comfortable and quiet place to take a breather.

The room we booked, had two king size beds and a large sitting area. It cost us $1,400 mexico pesos (approximately $70) for the night. This room was huge and we could have easily spent the week here and would have felt like we had enough space.

The room also had an amazing hot tub in it. The boys were able to take a nice soak in it that morning. If we had been there for the week, I think it would have gotten some serious usage.

The bathroom itself wasn't too shabby either. The shower stall was like it's own room. I love a huge shower stall where you can really stretch out. It felt wonderful taking a shower there after a night of travel.

We also enjoyed our breakfast in their restaurant that morning (a review will be coming). The front staff was able to call a taxi that could fit us and all our luggage to bring us to our apartment rental (while we found the taxis to be affordable this was our last one because afterwards we used Uber for our rides which was even cheaper). We enjoyed sitting on their front steps while waiting for our driver.
We also noticed on our way out that the hotel offered free use of their bicycles when staying with them.

Overall, we loved our stay at Hotel Escandón and definitely plan on staying with them again the next time we are in Mexico City. If you would like to try them for yourself, they are located at Av. Jose Marti 178, Escandón, Escandón II Secc, 11800 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico. Their phone number is +52 55 5515 1299.
