Dad's Breakfast & Lunch Restaurant Review ~ Charlton, MA

This past October, the boys and I drove to Virginia to view one last College for Riley. If you thought our road trip to Illinois was a whirlwind, this trip put the other one to shame. We left early on a Friday morning and after several hours on the road, we saw Dad's restaurant and it looked like a great place for breakfast.

Nothing fancy from the outside (which is exactly the kind of place you are looking for when eating a diner breakfast), but warm and inviting the second we stepped in. The waitress directed us to pick any table that was open. We found an empty booth and settled in.

They had a large menu and a great specials board. It was difficult to come to a final decision because I basically wanted to eat everything on the menu and the prices were super affordable!

Their coffee was so delicious (they even offered to send us with some coffee to go, but for the sake of my bladder, I had to decline). Gabrian was a huge fan of the hot chocolate.

I loved that this was clearly a local place. Don't tell the guys at the counter but I was totally eaves dropping on their conversation. I kinda want to be a local and eat breakfast at Dad's every morning.

Before we knew it, our breakfast was headed our way. Apparently I forgot I was a big sparcone at this meal and let Gabrian go all out with his breakfast choices (did you see that big hot chocolate with large amounts of whip cream??). In my defense, Gabrian is a huge breakfast eater (he is a natural thin person and eats like a king at breakfast, a prince at lunch, and a pauper at dinner...I am lucky if I can get him to eat anything at dinner time) and he ate this whole thing. He got a huge chocolate chip pancake, a scrambled egg (maybe it was two?), and two sausage links. Based on the speed he scarfed this down, I would say it was a winner.
Riley picked the Sampler #1 breakfast. It came with two eggs, two sausage links, two bacon slices, 2 kielbasa links, homefries, and toast. Riley thought this was great. Everything was seasoned wonderfully and they make really wonderful homefries.

I went with my typical go to breakfast order of eggs with corned beef hash. This was amazing and huge. I think I only made it halfway through before I had to throw in the towel and let Riley take over for me.

Overall, we had a fantastic breakfast at Dad's restaurant and hope we can make it back again someday. If you would like to try them out for yourself, they are located at 417 Worcester Road, Charlton, MA.
