Last Friday, Tenney and I had the opportunity to use a Groupon for the BSG. I was able to score it on one of their 1 day sales for only $20. This gave us 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, and 1 dessert (pretty sweet deal!). It was a beautiful summer night and the perfect driving weather which was perfect because it was about a 45 minute drive from South Portland.
As soon as we saw the patio we knew we needed to have our dinner outside. We checked in with the hostess inside and we were immediately brought to our table. We didn't really have a chance to check out the inside but it looked like it was pretty roomy.
The waitress was super friendly and great with the kids. We ordered a round of waters and she was quick to bring them out.
They have a large menu with lots of great options. There were lots of interesting sandwiches that I look forward to trying in the near future. The waitress explained our options with the Groupon and even though they all sounded awesome, we had to make some difficult choices and placed our orders.
We enjoyed the nice summer weather while waiting for our food. As you can tell by the pictures, the boys were getting a little hangry.
We started off with the stuffed mushrooms as our appetizers. Fortunately for Tenney and I, the boys were not fans so we were able to enjoy them for ourselves. The stuffing was flavorful and it was covered by cheese (what else could you ask for?).
Gabrian ordered the kids grilled cheese. It was full of melty cheese goodness. I was allowed one bite of the sandwich and I liked what I tasted.
Emmett ordered the kids chicken strips. This was the sleeper of all our orders. These were amazing. It was really pieces of chicken (not that weird pressed stuff that you usually see). And the most awesome part of this was the homemade ranch dressing they served with it. I could have seriously sat there and drank it if it was socially acceptable. I am pretty sure next time I go to BSG, I am going to order ranch dressing with a side of chicken strips!
Tenney ordered the Lobster Pasta Alfredo. There was tons of lobster in this dish. Tenney enjoyed this dish a lot but felt like the sauce could have used some more garlic. There was a sad ending to this pasta. Tenney was bringing the leftover pasta home with her and let Emmett carry it out. We took a short walk after dinner and there was some running and jumping involved with the boys and before we knew the pasta was in the middle of the town commons (we must have been quite the site as we tried to scoop it up off the grass).
I ordered the BBQ Ribs. There were fall off the bone wonderful. They were juicy, moist, and flavorful. The boys had to help me eat the ribs because there was so much of it. Come hungry if you decide to order this one!
We ended the night with the boys eating a kids sundae and Tenney and I shared the Cookie Bar (actually I am not sure what it was called but it tasted like a delicious cookie).
We ended the night taking a walk around the town and enjoying the small town. I found a couple of houses that I would love for someone to buy for me. They were huge and gorgeous and I would like to move in immediately (funnily enough, I found the red one for rent on Craigs List a couple of days ago).
Overall, we enjoyed BSG and would definitely give them another try. If you would like to try them for yourself, they are located at 16 School Street, Sanford, Maine.
