Miguel Torres ~ Curico, Chile
Miguel Torres is probably one of my favorite places in the world. I swear one day I am going to have my wedding here (can we please ignore the fact that I haven't been on a date since last summer and I am not even sure I can count that as a date since I bolted after about 45 minutes). Besides having an amazing restaurant on site, everywhere I looked the scenery was breathtaking. It will be the perfect spot for my imaginary wedding.
They offer tours at the vineyard and have a really great visitors center. We didn't take advantage of the tour this time but we have in the past and I can definitely recommend taking the tour if you have the time. If you don't have the time (like us on this trip), you will want to take the time to walk around the vineyard and check out the store and buy lots and lots of their delicious wine (I walked away with my fair share of their wine).
We were free to wander the property (well, as long as you stay on the pathways...I am not sure they would appreciate me helping myself to their grapes). They have beautiful landscaping and it was a pleasure to see the different plants and trees on their property. My most exciting find was the fig on the tree (one of my most favorite foods) and it was a good thing I had just eaten a large meal because I would have been tempted to help myself to that fig.
I would highly recommend fitting in a visit to Miguel Torres while you are in Chile. They have a wonderful restaurant, a beautiful setting and they now have a Bed and Breakfast on property (I am so going to stay there next time we are in Chile). And to top it off, they have (in my opinion) the best wine in the world! Make sure you load up at their Sala de Ventas (Store) and take a few (hundred?) home with you.
