I really feel like 2014 is going to be my year. 2013 brought lots of changes for me. I settled into Portland, I have adjusted to my new job, and I got a divorce! I have name this new year to be "New Beginnings". Ok, I know it is a little cheesy but I am really feeling it.
I still have the same boring goals of losing weight, actually have money in the bank after a two week period before I get the next paycheck, learn Spanish, and figure out how I can move to Chile. But to make this year extra exciting I have given myself a challenge.
For a couple of personal reasons, this year is going to be extra tight on the money end. I am going to tighten the proverbial belt. I initially was starting to feel depressed about this prospect until I had my brilliant idea during my shower today.
I have really enjoyed doing the restaurant reviews in the past (though I have been really lax in that department recently). Obliviously with the new budget I won't have tons of those, although I hope I still am able to have some new restaurants to try. It did get me thinking about what I could do this year.
I have challenged myself to finding free or almost free things to do in the Portland, Maine area. I am committing myself to at least once a week to review a new place or activity. I hope to have more than once a week but don't want to get in over my head.
My hope is that someone traveling to Southern Maine on a budget or someone new to the area will benefit from these reviews. I still feel that I am fairly new to the area and don't know a lot of what is out there. I would live these review to inspire someone else to find out what else is out there.
